With contingency search, professional staffing agencies are constantly struggling with the knowledge there are other agencies working against them. Instead of creating an atmosphere of support and client commitment, the agency has to juggle the very real fact its efforts may go to waste and be rewarded with nothing.

Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) is a form of business process outsourcing whereby an employer outsources or transfers all or part of its recruitment activities to an external service provider.
According to the Recruitment Process Outsourcing Association (RPOA), the official definition is this: “Recruitment Process Outsourcing is when a provider acts as a company’s internal recruitment function for a portion or all of its jobs. RPO providers manage the entire recruiting/hiring process from job profiling through the on-boarding of the new hire, including staff, technology, method and reporting. A properly managed RPO will improve a company’s time to hire, increase the quality of the candidate pool, provide verifiable metrics, reduce cost and improve governmental compliance.”

Peter Drucker the noted management consultant said, “Chances are good that up to 66% of your companies hiring decisions will prove to be mistakes in the first 12 months.”
That’s a pretty damning statistic when you consider the potential cost of a mis-hire can be as much as three-times the persons salary. This means for a failed hire of a typical middle manager with a salary of $50,000 – you could face costs as high as $150,000.

It’s usually not an easy task to terminate a staff member. There’s the obvious emotional discomfort surrounding the decision to let an employee go, and of course delivering the “bad news” is a highly charged moment too. Add to this the possible financial and legal exposure, and it becomes clear terminating staff is not something you should undertake lightly, which is why the transition process should be handled by a professional.
